Job Introduction
Serve as a technical specialist, independently evaluating, selecting and applying advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to provide product recommendations within an area of expertise. Recommend design direction primarily in the improvement of existing products, processes and analytical tools.

Major Responsibilities
•Utilize knowledge of current procedures, regulations, customer and industry requirements and practices to successfully create or assist in defining product and test specifications in order to obtain, operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility. 
•Provide recommendations for and writes and supports the compilation and implementation of specifications and documentation, as required. Coordinate and prepares engineering deliverables pursuant to the PDP process, as required. 
•Provide recommendations to engineering management and purchasing for the selection of suppliers for design, manufacturing and outside services. 
•Consult and collaborate with supplier representatives regarding design changes or modifications resulting from part interface, design changes or cost reduction proposals. Provide expert oversight and serves as a liaison between suppliers and the company. 
•Maintain affiliations with appropriate professional and technical groups. 
•Plan and facilitate testing, as required. Record, analyze, and report data to appropriate internal engineering groups, material suppliers and customers. 
•Support critical design reviews. 
•Provide robust design methods to eliminate prior campaign failure modes. Where a campaign is initiated, provides technical leadership to resolve the issues. 
•Develop and/or approve product Architecture requirements and design specifications, test plans, and test reports. 
•Responsible for architecture level development and testing requirements. 
•Acts as a product specialist for all electrical engineering-related technical concerns and offers expertise to the product teams as appropriate 
•Assist in resolution of complex/difficult product issues as necessary. 
•Work with system engineers at program initiation to analyze the customer requirements and to enter them into the application life cycle tool. 
•Define interfaces of the architecture. 
•Develop architecture verification criteria. 
•Verify the product architectural design. 
•Support the improvement of internal systems and procedures. 
•Effectively conduct communications (verbal and written) with engineering, purchasing, suppliers, program management, operations management, plant management, and customers, as appropriate. 
•Maintain Good Housekeeping of the area 
•Ensure adherence to company, departmental and health and safety systems and policies to meet legislative requirements. 
•Authorities as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (continuous improvement).

Bachelors degree (or Bachelor’s equivalency) in Electrical Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
Experience/Special Knowledge/Skills 
Work Experience
Minimum 8 years diversified engineering experience, to include 2 years experience in field of expertise. Recognized within the organization as a technical expert within field of expertise. 
Working knowledge of CAN and LIN based tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, neoVI 
Knowledge of analysis and engineering tools: Electrical Circuit Simulators (PSpice, Saber), Schematic/PCD Design Tools (Alitum) 
Electrical Test Equipment (Digital Scopes, Logic Analysers, etc.) 
Knowledge of analysis and engineering tools such as version control/configuration management, UML tools, static code check tools 
ALM tools (PTC Integrity) 
Knowledge on basic control model algorithm design 
Mathworks based tools (Matlab, Simulink) 
ADTF environment 
Enterprise Architect 
Must demonstrate exceptional problem solving skills, viable concept development, and proficiency with statistical methods, i.e. APQP, DFSS. Must be able to use and improve math-based tools. 
Knowledge of government and OEM specifications in area of expertise. 
Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within and across departments to meet established and changing deadlines. 
Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and technical presentations. 
Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
