Leading Oakland County Company is seeking a talented individual who would be responsible for taking development projects from functional/cost target specification to production. This movement will include project phases such as: competitive product physical analysis, preliminary/experimental design, formal design and documentation, prototype, testing/qualification, listing/approvals, and manufacturing release.
The Engineer will be accountable to the Vice President of Engineering. Secondary accountability will be to the President, other management team members, employees and customers of the company.
•A minimum of 4 years of prior Engineering experience is required.
•BS/MSEE or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
•Proven ability to manage the timely delivery of development projects and work well within a team structure for project realization.
Technology experience should include:
•Analog and Digital Hardware Design –some software

•Be a key member of the product design team responsible for the analog, digital and embedded design of safety products.
•Apply electrical engineering knowledge to the design and development of new and innovative products.
•Provide design expertise to solve complex electrical engineering problems at the system and sub-system levels of the product.
•Provide engineering support for legacy product changes and/or enhancements in a manner consistent with corporate objectives.
•Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent applications.
•Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes.
•Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies as it relates to company products.
•Provide technical oversight and manage external contractors and consultants as required.
•Provide electrical engineering support in the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues.
•Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, marketing and quality assurance staff to coordinate the design transfer of new products into commercial production.
•Work closely with Operations group through thorough DFM analysis and practices.
•Create validation test plans and assist with testing to ensure product meets requirements.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
•Demonstrated capabilities to develop and verify reliable, high quality, and efficient electrical hardware and software for low-power products.
•Demonstrated knowledge in Analog and Digital circuit design.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Desired Skills and Qualifications
•Ability to utilize Schematic capture and PCB layout CAD tools (preferably OrCAD).
•Working knowledge of Spice based circuit simulation and modeling tools.
The company is a leading provider of Safety system products with offices and manufacturing facilities located in Michigan. A small company environment is one key to our success, but strong financial and managerial backing is available from our multi-national parent company.
It is expected that this position will require some limited travel to worldwide company engineering locations and throughout the Americas to customer locations.
